Annotation
The Christmas concert is traditionally devoted to the sacred repertoire. The concert will present the work of Antonio Caldara from his Roman period in 1711–1716, when, among other things, he composed the Christmas cantata Vaticini di Pace (Message of Peace) for his music-loving patron, Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli. The remainder of the programme will comprise arias from the Christmas cantata by Alessandro Stradella and pastorales by Angelo Ragazzi, whose work once again opens up a new repertoire for Czech audiences. The concert will conclude with the delightful melodies of the Christmas songs of Václav Karel Holan Rovenský and Adam Václav Michna z Otradovic.
