A completely original idea was born in the mind of Ferdinand of Tyrol, the king's younger son, who at the age of eighteen had already won the office of royal governor in Bohemia for his political skill and who can be called a truly Renaissance man. He was skilled in art, alchemy and philosophy, and in the design of this marvellous building he represented the most modern knowledge of human knowledge in his time. In 1555, a house was built on the plan of the six-pointed Star of David, the layout corresponding to the heliocentric idea of the order of the universe. The Hexagram is formed by joining two equilateral triangles to symbolize two opposing forces in balance, i.e. the harmony of nature and the life force. The four levels of the building correspond to the four elements. The ceiling on the ground floor is richly decorated with fine stucco with ancient motifs. In the central part we can notice Aeneas, from whom the Romans derived the origin of their royal family, and their tradition was then continued by the Habsburg emperors. The ceilings at the points of the star depict the most important ancient gods, from which the names of the planets and the key alchemical elements derive. The ceiling of the second floor once depicted scenes from the Thirty Years' War, but these paintings were later covered. The mosaic floor of glazed tiles has been preserved.
The star is one of the so-called philosophical buildings. Its precise shapes, many symbols and their meaningful connection never cease to amaze visitors. However, its original purpose was certainly more than a visually and architecturally interesting building - Ferdinand believed in magic and perhaps hoped to accumulate the energy of the universe here with the help of alchemy. Until today, the castle still hides a strange, pleasantly attractive secret. Concerts are held in the attic floor of the fire, in the Feast Hall. The very shape of the room suggests that this will be no ordinary experience - the six points of the star converge at one point in the ceiling, the evening sun breaking through the glass of the western windows paints mystical images on the wall, and the hall's sonically varied acoustics are simply inimitable.
